An Accurate Diagnosis is Very Important
When using workers’ comp, an accurate diagnosis of back pain is important for all parties involved. Without a detailed and accurate diagnosis, you won’t be able to receive the correct level of treatment or pain relief. And without an accurate explanation of the issue, you may not be able to receive compensation in a timely manner. In a typical SI joint dysfunction case, there are three stages of diagnosis.
Personal Medical History
The diagnostic process begins with a personal medical history. In order for workers’ comp to be paid, medical specialists will need to record your age, height, weight, hereditary factors, pregnancy history, and more. This information can play a major role in determining the possibility of SI joint dysfunction.
Physical Examination
After recording your personal medical history, a physical exam will be conducted to search for SI joint pain indicators. Tests include the FABER, compression, and thigh thrust. If the physical tests indicate the possibility of SI joint issues, an SI joint pain confirmation will be conducted.
SI Joint Pain Confirmation
Almost identical to the therapeutic SI joint injection, the diagnostic version is used to confirm the presence of SI joint related pain. If you experience a reduction of pain after the test, doctors can confirm the presence of SI joint dysfunction.
